Gerald Sim

Gerald Grant Sim was an English actor who is perhaps best known for playing the Rector in To the Manor Born. He was the younger brother of the actress Sheila Sim and brotherinlaw of the actordirector Richard Attenborough. In August 2013, on Richard Attenboroughs 90th birthday, it was reported that he was living in a care home for entertainers with his sister in the next room and his brotherinlaw on the other side. He died onDecember 2014.

Sim was born in Liverpool, Lancashire and had nearly 100 film and television appearances, beginning with an uncredited role in the 1947 film Fame Is the Spur. Film and TV roles include The LShaped Room , Sance on a Wet Afternoon , King Rat , Oh! What a Lovely War , Ryans Daughter , Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde , Frenzy , Young Winston , A Bridge Too Far , The New Avengers , Edward amp Mrs. Simpson , Gandhi , as Dr George Bagster Phillips in Jack the Ripper , Chaplin and Patriot Games .
